Mornings can be the hardest time of day for many of us, especially if we aren’t morning people. Depending on the type of person that you are, a clear morning routine may actually simplify your life and make mornings much less of a chore. So what can you include in it besides a nice, healthy breakfast (this is not optional, please eat and stay healthy)?
There are many people talking about their morning routines and their evolution over the years. We decided to focus on the spiritual aspect of a morning routine and compiled a short list of what you can add to your routine.
Remember! You don’t have to do all of the things listed below. Do what you fell is best for you and what you find to fit right.
Morning routine elements:
Affirmations for your day
You can do this in bed as you wake up or while you’re making your daily coffee or tea. It can be done at any time really. You can do it in your head or out loud, depending on how you are feeling. You can say as little or as many as you want, but if you’re not sure you can start with 3 affirmations.
Meditating with a purpose
You can meditate for many different reasons such as connecting with a spirit guide or for protection against negative energy. There is no correct amount of time when it comes to meditation. Even something as short as 5 minutes can be enough.
Daily divination
You can incorporate tarot cards, pendulums or runes in your morning routine. It doesn’t have to be anything complicated, but if you have the time you can use your preferred method of divination in the mornings. This practice can also help you learn your desired method of divination, keep your skills sharp and it can also push you to experiment with different decks or pendulums.
Make tea with herbal plants
Many plants are used in spell work. Some of these plants have been used as herbal remedies for centuries in certain countries. You can, of course, make tea with intention, but if you’re not up for it you can try making tea using a blend of herbs or just one herb. Some herbs you could use are Chamomile, Sage and Marigold.
We advise that you research the plants that you intend to use. People still use them as medicinal herbs for a reason so please be careful. We are aware it may be harder to buy certain herbs or herbal mixes in your country do to it being available only in certain specialized stores, but we recommend that you buy your plants rather than picking and prepping them yourself.
Offerings
You can make an offering followed by a short prayer every morning. It doesn’t have to be anything elaborate. It is your intention that matters. A bowl of water, candles and herbs are “standard” and inoffensive offerings, but you can also offer other things such as wine, milk, food and even nontangible things like commutes once you are more familiar with the practice and the entity you are offering it to.
Now that you have some basics ideas, make a commitment to yourself to uphold your daily practice. Don’t stress too much over it though. Change requires time and baby steps. Don’t tell yourself you’ll wake up 2 hours early and do 20 new things as part of your morning routine. You’ll most likely hate it, fail and then hate yourself over it and give up. Be gentle with yourself and implement everything bit by bit.
Don’t be rigid! If for whatever reason you can’t complete your morning routine that day it’s not the end of the world. Don’t feel discouraged and drop the routine completely. If you couldn’t do it today you’ll do it tomorrow. Be kind to yourself.
