Candles, much like Tarot cards are tools used by many, not just witches. We’ve all blown out candles on our birthdays and who hasn’t lit a nice scented candle after a long day of work? The color of the candles didn’t really matter in these instances. We were more focused on the moment itself and the feeling it brought us rather than worrying about anything else.
In rituals and spells the color of the candles matters more, sometimes making the difference between good and extraordinary results.
One of the reasons why colors are so important is symbolism. Many of us subconsciously associate different colors with different things, thus giving them meaning. Some people see the color red and think of blood so they’ll automatically associate it with danger and suffering, while others will think of marriage and associate it with celebrations and prosperity. It is important to keep in mind that part of the meaning you give a color is based on the meaning that your culture has assigned to it.
The color meanings bellow are not the end all be all so don’t be discouraged if you have a different color association. Go with what feels right for you!
